Back of Card:
New York General Post Office, for Manhattan and the Bronx, covers the two city blocks, 31st to 33rd St., west of the Pennsylvania R.R. Station. In this building are located the Postal Inspectors, Railway Mail Service and all the general offices. 28 miles of pneumatic tubes connect it with the branch P.O.'s of the city. Five million letters a day are shunted through these tubes. Nearly 3 billion letters per annum are received and mailed in New York City. Its cash receipts are $69,000,000 a year, twice as much as before the War.
