The Oldest House in America
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Curt Teich Divided Back Vintage Postcard in Good, Posted in 1934 Condition. This C.T. American Art Colored Post Card was published by Southwest Arts & Crafts of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Back of Card:
Santa Fe, the oldest town inhabited by Whites in America, was originally an Indian Pueblo called "Tiguex." Its earliest historical mention was 1605 when it became the capital of the province which indicates that it was already a Spanish town. Undoubtedly the first settlement was in the 16th century by Spanish adventurers. The erection of this house, so tradition relates, was by the Pueblo Indians and that it was part of the ancient Pueblo of Tiguex.
