The Centotaph stands on Alamo Plaza just outside the old walls of the famous Texas shrine, the Alamo. The sculptural parts were conceived and executed by Pompeo Coppini. The Shaft rises sixty feet from the base and is forty feet in length, twelve in width, and rests on the site where the bodies of the Alamo dead were heaped and burned by the Mexican General Santa Anna.
