The towers of the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral at 13th and Locust Streets, St. Louis are seen in this picture behind the picturesque Sunken Gardens in downtown St. Louis. The Christ Church Cathedral was constructed during the Civil War period and has had several important additions since that time. Present building has diocesan parish and community building, erected to memory of Daniel Sylvester Tuttle, pioneer of Episcopal Church, standing beside it. Stone altar, imported from Italy, a masterpiece of beautiful carving. At the left is a section of the Shell Building and at the right, the St. Louis Public Library.
