Back of Card:
Twenty-one years of construction were required for completion of Illinois' Capitol Building. Thie structure is one of the out-standing examples of public building architecture of the post-Civil War period. Ground was broken on March 11, 1868; the building was first occupied in 1876, and construction work was finished in 1889.
Charles F. Carpentier, Illinois' 29th Secretary of State, was inaugurated on January 12, 1953.
